Come visit us at DeSoto Arts Council and see the handmade gift items made by local people. Each item is unique and sure to make someone happy. We have everything from baby bibs to a hand-carved castle that spouts incense from its chimney. Jewelry and pottery from a number of artisans, Hernando notecards, and Christmas decorations are just a few items that you will find!

Planning on attending the Red Door Market on November 12th? If so, why not get a preview the night before? At the Open the Red Door Reception, you can do just that! Inside a beautiful home in the Hernando Historic District, you'll enjoy wine and refreshments - along with hors d'oeuvres from local restaurants - all while getting a sneak peek at some of the wonderful, handmade creations from local artisans. You can also take part in a fantastic silent auction featuring items from each artisan as well as prizes from many local businesses!

A Cast of Blues. September 8-October 7, 2017, A Cast of Blues exhibit will be displayed at DeSoto Arts Council in Hernando, MS. The exhibit is composed of life-cast masks of blues musicians, sculpted by artist Sharon McConnell-Dickerson, a resident of Como, MS, known for her work in preserving the history of the blues
2017 First Friday Art Walk.  Every first Friday through August we will gather to experience art.  We invite businesses to partner with us and have some of our artists and/or their work shown in their locations.  We invite theater to showcase vignettes of plays. Musicians can set up to share their art with others,  Culinary artists, potters, sculptors and all forms of art are welcome.  Call and let's determine how you might fit in.  Click here to fill out online application to participate.

Secret Signature Soiree

Anyone is welcome to paint one of the 12x12 canvases.

They are available and time is growing short. Come by and pick up the canvas, paint whatever is on your mind SIGN IT (WE WILL COVER THE SIGNATURE) and return on May 30 and 31.

We will have a booth on the square on Earth Day to advertise who we are and people will be directed to our new facility where we will have upcycling art projects. All member artists and craftsmen are invited to set up tables or booths to demonstrate or sell items in our back parking lot.

Join the Desoto Arts Council for a day of shopping with local artisans and a night of entertainment Sunday November 13, 2016 from 11am to 9pm for our annual Red Door Market. This also coincides with the Hernando Holiday Open House (1pm to 5pm).

This year, we will also host an After Party starting at 5 pm with live music to accompany the shopping as well as a special After Hours Raffle prize set. For $10 indulge in heavy Hors d'oeurvres and 2 drink tickets on the house. (Beverages will be available without a wristband at the cash bar)
Shoppers who do not want enjoy the supper and drinks may continue to shop from open to close.
